Sri Prahalada Varada Swamy Temple

The Divine Heart of Lower Ahobilam

The Peaceful Form (Shantha Murthy)

While the Lord resides in a fierce (Ugra) form on top of the Ahobilam hills, he descended to the foothills to bless the young boy Prahalada. Here, Lord Narasimha is seen in a calm and peaceful state, known as "Shantha Murthy".

He is worshipped as Sri Prahalada Varada Swamy (The Lord who granted boons to Prahalada). The deity is beautifully seated with Goddess Lakshmi on his lap, portraying a sense of divine grace.

The Home of Utsava Murtis

One of the most unique facts about the Lower Ahobilam temple is that it serves as the central hub for the entire Ahobilam Kshetram.

The Utsava Murtis (Festival Idols) of all the Nava Narasimhas residing in the upper hills are carefully brought down and safely preserved in this very temple. During the grand annual Brahmotsavams and Swathi Nakshatram, all main rituals begin from here.
