Jwala Narasimha Swamy

The Mythological Origin
According to the ancient Puranas, the Jwala Narasimha Swamy temple is situated on the Garudadri Hill. It is the very place where Lord Narasimha manifested from a pillar in a blazing form to protect His devotee, Prahlada, and end the tyranny of Hiranyakashipu. This sacred hill was named after Garuda Bhagavan, who performed rigorous penance here to witness the supreme form of the Lord.
Divine Form of the Deity
- 🔱 Seated majestically on a Garuda Peetham.
- 🔱 The deity features Eight Hands, with the upper two holding the celestial Shankha and Chakra.
- 🔱 The Lord is depicted in His fierce Ugra form, tearing the stomach of the demon king.
- 🔱 This shrine is especially worshipped to overcome unseasonal rains and agricultural hardships.
The Crimson Raktha Kundam
Located near the temple is the mystical Raktha Kundam, a water pond that remains reddish to this day. It is believed that the Lord washed His blood-stained hands here after the slaying of the demon, making it a living testimony of the Hiranyakashipu Vadha.
The Sacred Presence
Within this cave shrine, one can also find the Moorthies of Sthambhodhbhava Narasimha, Sri Maha Vishnu, and the great sage Shukracharya in a meditative posture.
