Sri Ahobilam Kalyanotsavam

Monthly Schedule, Significance & Booking Details

The Divine Significance

Ahobilam is the sacred abode where Lord Maha Vishnu incarnated as Sri Narasimha Swamy. While the Lord is often worshipped in His fierce (Ugra) form, during the Kalyanotsavam (Celestial Wedding), He is worshipped as Sri Prahlada Varada Swamy in His most merciful and peaceful (Shantha) form, alongside His consorts Goddesses Sridevi and Bhudevi. Witnessing and performing this divine union is considered highly meritorious.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the dress code for participating in Kalyanotsavam?
Traditional Indian wear is strictly recommended. Men are requested to wear Dhoti/Kurta, and women should wear Sarees, Half-sarees, or Churidar with a dupatta. Western wear is generally not allowed during the main pooja.
Can I pay the Kalyanotsavam fee offline at the temple?
Yes, you can directly pay the Rs. 5000/- fee at the Devasthanam counter in Ahobilam. However, during rush days or special Panchaparva utsavams, it is safer to confirm your slot by calling the temple authorities and paying online.
How much time does the Kalyanotsavam pooja take?
The celestial wedding and the associated rituals usually take around 2 to 3 hours. It is advised to reach the temple at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time to settle down and hand over the pooja items.
Is advance room booking necessary?
Absolutely. Ahobilam gets very crowded during Swathi Nakshatram, Pournami, and other Kalyanotsavam days. Booking your hotel room and local cab at least a week in advance is highly recommended to avoid last-minute issues.
