Ahobilam is the highly sacred abode of the Nava Narasimhas. Swathi Nakshatram is the divine star under which Lord Maha Vishnu manifested as the fierce Ugra Narasimha to protect his devotee Prahlada. Hence, visiting Ahobilam on the birth star of Lord Narasimha is considered a supreme blessing in a devotee's life.
On the day of Swathi Nakshatram every month, a festive atmosphere envelops the Nava Narasimha shrines. Witnessing the grand Moolavar Abhishekam—performed with pure water, milk, curd, honey, turmeric, kumkum, and aromatic spices amidst the dense Nallamala forest—is an ethereal experience.
Vedic scholars say that stepping into Ahobilam on Swathi Nakshatram removes all doshas, especially Kuja and Rahu-Ketu doshas in one's astrological chart. Furthermore, participating in the Sudarshana Homam on this holy day is believed to eliminate negative forces and provide relief from health issues.
